development - Best Way for Developers to Upload Files to Production Server - Pro Webmasters: "I strongly disagree with the only-one-person-can-commit-to-production methodology as it invites catastrophe. To use a common turn of phrase: if that one person goes under the bus, then what do you do? [ubuntu] Best way to upload files to server over the net? - Ubuntu Forums

[ubuntu] Best way to upload files to server over the net? - Ubuntu Forums: "Code:
ssh keygen
You then use the "ssh-copy-id" command to move the pubic key over to the server machines /home/ssh-client-user/.ssh/authorized_keys file. The command sorts everything out for you, it adds the public key and sets all the permissions. It is really easy and is more secure than a password authentication system.

use "man ssh-copy-id" to see the usage for that command.
